Eric Schaefer joins the CORE Project Outsource Team as a Mechanical Designer. I recently sat down with him to learn a little bit more about his path to engineering…
Eric, when did you first know you wanted to be an engineer?
I was always taking things apart when I was a kid. Anything from the cords to my PlayStation to TV remotes. I just wanted to see how they worked. I pretty much always wanted to be an engineer. When I got to high school, I started working for an aluminum foundry as a youth apprentice using SolidWorks to do mold design. Now I’m attending the Milwaukee School of Engineering and will earn my bachelor’s degree soon.
CORE is excited to have you on board as a Mechanical Designer. What do you bring to the table?
I think I’ll bring a unique perspective to CORE with my Sustaining Engineering background. In my previous role, I was looking for ways to reduce costs and make manufacturing easier. Some people call it “efficient engineering”. I’ve also designed gearing for transmissions and machines. I’m excited that I get to work on a wide variety of projects here and expand my design skills.
What are your long-term engineering goals?
I want to eventually get my MBA. I don’t just want to be an engineer…someday I want to run my own engineering department!
Outside of CORE, Eric enjoys being outdoors. You can find him biking, golfing, camping, and hunting. To learn how you can join our Project Outsource team, or for more information about our services, email firstname.lastname@example.org today.
